Our Staff

Katie: Office Manager and Technician

Katie was born and raised right here in Maine. She always had a love for animals as a small child.  It was always a dream of hers to grow up and work with them.  The opportunity finally crossed her path 6 years ago.  Unfortunately,  it happened due to the diagnosis of cancer in her cat Spunky. She was the first kitten (of many) that she had hand raised.

She has been blessed for the past 6 years to have been cross-trained in many areas of veterinary medicine.  She currently resides in Auburn with her daughter, Evelyn, their Boston Terrier, Onyx, and her rescue cats!

Katie's can-do attitude makes her an important team member here at TVWC, whether it involves client relations, computer and inventory updating, or the compassion she shows to our patients.

Elizabeth: Receptionist

Elizabeth (or Liz; she goes by either!) is one of our part-time receptionists. She is currently attending Southern Maine Community College in their Human Services program, aspiring to work her way up to a Master’s degree in Social Work. She is kept busy by her two-year old daughter Eloise, her senior dachshund Diesel, and her very large and gorgeous kitty Claudio. Although this is her first foray into the veterinary world, Liz has grown up with animals her whole life on her parent’s farm. Elizabeth grew up helping to take care of her father’s Belgian draft horses, pigs, chickens (and sometimes turkeys!), and her family’s cats and dogs. Liz currently lives in Bowdoin with her significant other Alexander and their little family.

Samantha: Veterinary Technician in Training (here til May 2019)

“Sam” is our resident Jersey girl and one of our newest staff members.  She came to Maine in 2009 from her childhood home in New Jersey to pursue her bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology at the University of New England.  While in school, Sam spent several years working with marine mammal rehabilitation where she fell further in love with animals, Maine, and veterinary medicine.  She is currently training to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician through San Juan College’s online program.  Although her career is still in the beginnings, Sam is not unknown to the veterinary field.  She previously worked as a compounding pharmacy technician at PetScripts Pharmacy and as an Animal Care Technician at Coastal Humane Society.  She is still currently active with Marine Mammals of Maine (MMOME), which is a response and rescue group for stranded marine mammals along the coast of Maine.  Sam currently lives in Old Orchard Beach with her fiancé, Julian, chinchilla, Petzl, and rescued Puerto Rican Sato dog, Capa.  In her free time, you can find her rock climbing or out on the beach.  She is looking forward to growing within the Topsham Veterinary Wellness Team, and further into this very rewarding career.

Paige:  Veterinary Technician Assistant (Leaving for Veterinary School this summer!!!)

Although she grew up in Traverse City, MI, Paige has been happy to call Maine her home since attending Bowdoin College and graduating with the Class of 2017.  Becoming a vet was a dream of her childhood, and though she explored other scientific interests as she grew, she rediscovered a love for veterinary medicine while in college and is currently working towards attending veterinary school, hopefully in the near future.  She mostly focused on STEM and pre-veterinary courses while in college but has always valued interdisciplinary learning, enjoying classes in Greek history, religion, psychology, film studies, literature, philosophy and environmental science (as well as independent research on lobster hearts!)  Paige has many animal care and veterinary assistant experiences, from caring for an Alpine goat herd on a cheese farm to caring for animals in the kennel in veterinary practices. In her spare time, she likes to play rugby, climb trees, and give lots of love to her kitty, Mordred.  She is currently happy to be learning the ins and outs of technician work from Dr. Amy, Katie, Sam, and everyone else at TVWC, including all of our wonderful clients!
